RYAN KING

Coach
Ryan is the varsity XC coach at Piqua High School (2015- present). While developing and increasing the size of the program, Ryan has coached multiple runners to Regional and State appearances. In 2023, the Piqua Boys XC team qualified for Regionals as a team for the first time in over 50 years. The same year, Ryan was named Coach of the Year for the Miami Valley League.

In 2015, he was a cofounder and the director of the Can’t Stop Running Co XC Camp which is hosted annually in western Ohio. The camp has grown annually to host approximately 200 athletes from over 20 different school districts with the mission of developing them as runners, teammates, and competitors.

Contributor
In 2013, Ryan founded the retail specialty running store, Can’t Stop Running. He owned and operated the company for ten years with his wife Amanda and had stores in Piqua, Coldwater, and Celina, Ohio. Through his efforts with Can’t Stop Running Company, Ryan has been the race director for multiple local races including: The Great Lake Marathon/ Half Marathon (2016-present), Great Miami Riverway Half Marathon (2014- present), and founder and director of the St. Patrick’s Day Beer Run (2014- present).

In 2015, Ryan cofounded Can’t Stop Timing Company which provides timing services for road races, XC meets, and track meets. Ryan has maintained a USATF and OHSAA officiating license and has had the opportunity to time countless road races and track/XC meets at the high school and college levels. Through his partnership with FinishTiming, he has also timed USATF Masters National Championships (2018-present). He has served as the Lead Timer at the MAC Championships, OAC Championships, GMAC Championships, and other college indoor and outdoor meets.

Runner
While he competed in track during high school (1996-2000 Piqua High School), Ryan’s passion for distance running came later as an adult. Ryan has competed in numerous road and trail races including the Boston Marathon in 2016 , The Barkley Marathons in 2021, and multiple 100 Mile Trail races (2014-present). Most recently, Ryan has developed an interest in journey runs such as the Heart of the South 350 mile race and has competed this race in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Ryan continues to serve the running community and promote distance running through his involvement in race timing, officiating, coaching, and annually hosting cross country camps.
